The Telugu dub of Malayalam film Athiran, which is titled Anukoni Athidhi will make its digital release on Aha Video on May 28.  The psychological thriller has Sai Pallavi, Fahadh Faasil, Prakash Raj and Atul Kulkarni as its lead characters.

The plot of this Vivek directorial follows Dr Nair (Fahadh), a psychiatrist who is allotted visits to a mental asylum in order to treat patients. Located in an area far off civilization in Kerala, the mental asylum houses Nithya (Pallavi). She is kept in isolation and soon, Dr Nair uncovers secrets from her past that have resulted in her current predicament.

Based on Hollywood’s Stonehearst Asylum, Athiran captivated Malayali audiences and also marked Vivek’s directorial debut.

Athiran, which was shot in Ooty in 55 days and set in a psychiatric asylum, was inspired by a poem by Edgar Allan Poe and other psychological thrillers that have huge plot twists. The Telugu dubbed version, Anukoni Athidi, is sure to make Telugu audiences love the film just as much as Malayali audiences did.

Faasil, who was last seen in the Macbeth adaptation Joji, is all set to star in Allu Arjun’s Pushpa and Kamal Haasan’s Vikram. Pallavi, who recently celebrated her birthday, will be featuring in a Venu Udugula directorial opposite Rana Daggubati.
