Kiran Abbavaram, who tasted success with Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha earlier this year, is back with another release, Meter, also produced by a reputed banner Mythri Movie Makers in association with Clap Entertainment. Athulyaa Ravi makes her Telugu debut the film that’s hitting screens on April 7. Ahead of its release, the actress interacted with the media earlier this week.

“I feel honoured to be launched by two prestigious banners in Telugu. I really liked the story and also watched Kiran’s SR Kalyana Mandapam earlier. Meter is a full-on commercial entertainer with a strong emotional core. Everyone will relate with it - the film has good music, dances, romance, fights and father sentiment. There’s something for everyone, “ she says.

Athulyaa took time to learn Telugu through the making, while watching films aplenty and interacting with the team in the language. “I have a long way to go and get better,” the actress admits. “I play a serious girl who doesn’t like men at all but there’s a lot of humour with the characterisation in the first half. I enjoyed dancing in the film though I didn’t learn it formally before. I admit I’m a quick learner when the choreographer teaches me the moves,” she adds.

She says her role in the film is in stark contrast to her real life persona. “I was at ease doing the film and came on board after a look test. Kiran is a very friendly co-star. Much like him, I have also worked on short films and independent movies before coming to the industry. We always discuss only about cinema when we meet. Our combination sequences in the film have shaped up well.”

The Meter girl says the guy in the film goes all out to woo her and it’ll make for a hilarious watch. Going forward, Athulyaa hopes to be a part of several feel-good love stories, rustic films and wants to occasionally experiment with off-beat roles as well. “From Pawan Kalyan to Balakrishna to Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR and Ram Charu, there’s a big list of people whom I want to work with,” she states.

She thanks Telugu audiences for receiving her as one of their own. On the work front, Athulyaa is teaming up with Harish Kalyan for a web film and is in talks for multiple projects.
