Atlee Kumar highlighted Shah Rukh Khan's famous monologue from his blockbuster Jawan. The question of whether Shah Rukh's voting speech from the film was "anti-establishment" was posed to Atlee on Thursday at the India Today Conclave Mumbai 2023, where he was a speaker. While Jawan's popular monologue addressed important topics including farmer suicides and the healthcare system, Shah Rukh's character Azad stressed the need to do research before casting a vote.

Analysing the monologue:

Atlee addressed this topic during the event, saying that it's not anti-establishment; he is just talking about his sentiments. The filmmaker also said, "I am a layman. I am also a part of society. I am just talking about my emotions and the film. You can take it however you want. It is a common audience voice. It is the voice of Indian emotion. I am not specifying anything, but I am talking about real issues. One should know who to vote for, how to vote, and read the manual. I am just describing what responsibility is. This dialogue should connect with the audience in the right way. If a coach teaches a student how to goal, it is not for the match; it is for a lifetime. So I will say, 'A message for a lifetime'."

Emotions, responsibility, and audience connection:

The filmmaker added that he is also a member of the media, so it's incumbent upon him to create responsibly entertaining content. To Atlee, it's not performing his work if it's just for fun. He feels what everyone else feels, and he feels what, as a culture, we are doing to combat this. Atlee went on to add that he is not naming anything, but he is talking about actual difficulties. One should know who to vote for, how to vote, and read the manual. and he is only trying to explain what it means to be accountable.
