John Abraham will be seen as India’s first super-soldier in debutant director Lakshya Raj Anand’s Attack. In a recent interview, the filmmaker revealed the runtime of the film, which also features Jacqueline Fernandez and Rakul Preet Singh.

The basic story of Attack is the brainchild of John Abraham, revealed Lakshya, who has co-scripted the film with Sumit Batheja and Vishal Kapoor to Pinkvilla.

“The idea has developed over a period of five years. We didn’t want the film to be another Robo-Cop or Terminator, but the first Attack,” said the filmmaker, adding that he has tried to strike the perfect balance between commerce and arts through Attack, which will release on April 1.

Lakshya also pointed out the fact that the Hindi movie audience is now accepting South Indian films dubbed in Hindi but refusing the films which feature Bollywood heroes. And in order to win the attention of the Hindi cinema-goers, Lakshya has crisply edited Attack with a runtime of just 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Explaining that people now “live in the world of Instagram”, the director said, “Instead of giving the audience the time to be distracted, we worked extra hard to not make the dialogues too long. I value the time of the audience a lot.”.

He also talked about how the modern techniques of filmmaking provide creators with the necessary agility to create “heightened naturalism” while keeping the basic aesthetics intact. The camera angles, movements, language and CGI are valuable tools that invoke the urgency, suspense and anxiety required to tell a story and the new generation of filmmakers are not shying away from the trend, he says, adding that he belongs to the new brigade of storytellers who wants to explore novel approaches to shooting.

Lakshya, had previously worked as an assistant director on films such as Ek Tha Tiger and Bang Bang, before donning the cap of the director. The filmmaker also revealed that he has already locked the idea for Attack Part 2.
