Atypical is a series created by Robia Rashid streaming on Netflix and revolving around an eighteen-year-old boy who is on an autistic spectrum. The main character Sam, played by Kier Gilchrist, is a high school-aged autistic individual who is a strict adherent to the set of rules created by him. He is a very forthright individual who has his characteristic skills.
Even though Sam says a lot of crudes and inappropriate things, we all have some notes to take down from him. Most of us tend to have a people-pleasing behaviour which may or may not work in our favour. Sam, on the other hand, is very specific and particular about what he wants and knows to keep people at bay if found unnecessary. He is a highly intelligent lad who has thorough knowledge about a lot of things, contrary to what people think autistic people are about. He has a strong personality and tries to be compassionate to his close people when they are in distress.
The series gives importance to what is happening in his family as well. When they are dealing with issues of their own, he tries to understand them from his perspective and is seen all over the place sometimes whilst adapting to the new changes. He has a supportive bunch around him, which helps him get through the scenarios that he never thought he'd face one day. This is something which we all could do; just by simply being there for one another irrespective of the differences.
Season four of the series is streaming on Netflix where Sam is seen going off to college where he makes some life-changing decisions. Sadly, the series has now come to an end.
The news was announced via the official Netflix Twitter account in February 2020, it read as: "Join Sam on one last expedition. Atypical will return for a fourth and final season."
