Malayalam actress Ann Augustine’s comeback movie Autorickshawkarante Bharya has finally got its OTT release. The movie, which also has Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead, is helmed by veteran filmmaker Harikumar and scripted by noted writer M Mukundan.
The movie was released in theatres last month. The family drama, which revolved around a lazy autorickshaw driver, essayed by Suraj, and his wife, who takes it upon herself to motivate him, is based on Mukundan’s eponymous novel.
Apart from Ann and Suraj, the film also has Janaradhanan, Swasika Vijay, Sunil Sukhada and Kailas in pivotal roles. The movie is an old-school take on the life of its couple – Sajeevan and Radhika. Set in Mahe, it revolves around the incidents that happen when Radhika is forced to take charge of their lives, by becoming an autorickshaw driver herself. Things, however, take a turn when she gets into an accident.
The movie began streaming on Manorama Max from November 23. Autorickshawkarante Bharya marks Ann’s return to Malayalam films after a gap. She was last seen in Dulquer Salmaan’s Solo, in a cameo role. The actress had also ventured into film production last year, and was also part of another OTT release - the Netflix anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s stories. Ann plays a pivotal role in the segment Kadalkattu, which is directed by Kammarasambhavam and Theerpu filmmaker Rathish Ambat. The featurette also has Indrajith Sukumaran and National Award-winning actress Aparna Balamurali as part of the cast.
Meanwhile, Suraj, who apparently didn’t take any remuneration to work in Harikumar’s Autorickshawkarante Bharya, has a host of releases lined up. The actor, who was last seen in Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Mukundan Unni Associates, is also part of Bash Muhammed’s upcoming movie titled Ennalum Entaliya and Sudheesh Gopinath’s Madanolsavam, which is scripted by Nna Thaan Case Kodu director Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval. The latter also has Babu Antony and Rajesh Madhavan in pivotal roles.
