Director Harikumar recently opened up about his upcoming movie Autorickshawkkarante Bharya and gave interesting updates. He revealed that the movie, which is based on M Mukundan’s short story of the same name, will be scripted by the writer himself. Excitingly, it is for the first time the popular author is working on a movie script.

“It’s a blessing that M Mukundan sir himself is scripting,” said the director, as quoted by ETimes. He also said that the plot is set in Mahe, and the dialect is very different from his own, and that he fails to understand it often. He also thinks that there is no one better than Mukundan to script his own famous story.

Harikumar, who has given some fine movies like Clint and Jwalamukhi recently, has found his male lead in the award-winning actor Suraj Venjaramoodu. The actor has proved himself to be one of the most versatile in the industry. On the female lead front, actress Ann Augustine is all set to make her second innings, after a break of four years.

The director further spoke about the leading actors and said he could not imagine anyone other than Suraj to play the role. He also believes that the strictly performance-oriented role will make room for the actor to explore, as Suraj is an impeccable performer.

Speaking about Ann, he said she has an equally important role and is a central character. Though many names had popped up including the current favourites, he said he felt Ann would be a fit, which would also give her a powerful re-entry.

He also revealed about the other cast members and said Manohari Joy of Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha, veteran actor Janardhanan and French Vasu, who is a retired French soldier are on the board for the film.
