Kalidas Jayaram’s 2023 outing, Aval Peyar Rajni, is finally out on OTT. Vinil Scariah Varghese directed the bilingual thriller movie, which is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Starring Kalidas Jayaram and Namitha Pramod in lead roles, the film is about a young man’s journey to find the truth behind his brother’s murder. Reba Monica John, Saiju Kurup, Ashwin Kkumar, Karunakaran and Shaun Romy play key roles in the film.

Director Vinil has also written the script of the film, with Tamil dialogues written by David K Rajan and Malayalam dialogues by Vincent Vadakkan, who is the writer of the Fahadh Faasil-starrer Trance. RR Vishnu has handled the camerawork and Deepu Joseph is in charge of the editing. Bankrolled by Sreejith KS and Blessy Sreejith’s Navarasa Films, the bilingual project features music by Band 4 Musics.
Aval Peyar Rajni failed to lure audiences at theatrical release
The film, which was released in December 2023, failed to impress audiences upon its release in theatres and was a box office failure. Although the film got a positive response for its captivating storyline, the performances and dialogues of the actors were not appreciated. The film had managed to secure only Rs 6 lakh on its opening day.
It is also important to note that Kalidas Jayaram’s Malayalam films have generally not performed well at the box office. However, being a bilingual flick, Aval Peyar Rajni was expected to do better at the box office. The movie is, however, expected to do well on OTT.
Kalidas Jayaram’s in Anwar Rasheed's next?
Kalidas is rumoured to be part of Malayalam director Anwar Rasheed’s next film. Pranav Mohanlal and Nazriya are also expected to be roped in to the film as part of the lead cast. Bangalore Days director Anjali Menon has reportedly penned the screenplay for the film. However, an official confirmation is yet to be announced.
