Avatar 2 Kannada: James Cameron's film gets more shows in Bengaluru but not as many as Telugu version

James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of Water is all set to release in Kannada on December 16 along with four other Indian languages and the original English version. The Kannada version, in particular, has been a point of contention on social media with the makers initially not choosing to dub and release the film in Kannada despite the wide viewership base in Karnataka. Following stiff backlash from the netizens over this matter, team Avatar 2 eventually decided on adding the Kannada dubbed version to its vast repertoire.

However, despite the initiative, fans soon felt underwhelmed when they realised that Avatar 2 in Kannada barely had a show or two to its name in Bengaluru, and that too in 2D only. Moviegoers were already sceptical about the width of this release, with users commenting that they only hope that there are sufficient number of shows to justify all the drama that preceded the announcement.

Well, all the Kannada cinema patrons needn't be disappointed anymore as the latest updates reveal a significant spike in the number of Avatar 2 Kannada shows. As of December 13, the film boasts as many as 14 shows in 3D and four 2D shows in Bengaluru alone and with the film releasing on December 16, one can expect more shows to be added in the interim. Ticketing sites also reveal that the Kannada version will be released in Mysuru and possibly other major cities of Karnataka such as Mangaluru, Hubballi, and Shivamogga but with a very limited number of shows.

However, Avatar 2 Telugu has found the biggest release in Bengaluru among the five dubbed versions with twenty-one 3D shows and four 2D shows. The Tamil version has 15 shows to its name (six in 2D, nine in 3D), Hindi version with fourteen (5 and 4), and the Malayalam release with only one 2D show.

Avatar: The Way of Water is the much awaited sequel to the 2009 film with James Cameron raising the stakes multifold both in terms of production and dramatic value. Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldanha, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang reprise their roles with Kate Winslet joining the cast to mark her second collaboration with Cameron after the 1997 blockbuster Titanic.
