The much-awaited sequel to the sci-fi adventure film Avatar is scheduled for release in December this year.

With the highly-anticipated Avatar 2 scheduled to release in December, the president of 20th Century Fox has now claimed that the movie will blow people away.
Steve Asbell talked to The Hollywood Reporter about the long slate of movies from the studio including Free Guy 2 and Planet of the Apes 4. When asked about Avatar 2, he replied that the movie is going to blow people away and that you are not ready for what James Cameron is doing.
He then went on to say, “This is not just a sequel, it’s a saga. And it’s a family saga. It will be compelling on its own, but it will also be extremely compelling to return to those characters and to see how they’ve evolved. ”
Following its release in 2009, Avatar went on to be the biggest grosser domestically in the US, and also attracted crowds around the globe. The plot, set in the future, revolves around humankind's invasion and attempt to mine the moon, Pandora. Using futuristic technology, a former Marine is allowed to be in the body of one of the moon’s natives.
There have been several reports of a series of sequels since 2009, and Avatar 2 is now slated to hit theatres in December 2022. A third movie will follow the sequel in 2024. Avatar 2 will see the filmmaker explore Pandora further, as an old threat rekindles, threatening Jake and Neytiri's happy family life.
Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Zoe Saldana as the Na'vi Neytiri, Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch, Giovanni Ribisi as Parker Selfridge, Joel David Moore as Dr Norm Spellman, and Sigourney Weaver as Dr Grace Augustine is expected to return in the sequel.
