Avatar - Fire and Ash Box Office Collection Day 1: It was reported that Agastya Nanda and Dharmendra's film, Ikkis, has been postponed due to the phenomenal box office collections of Dhurandhar and James Cameron's much-hyped film, Avatar: Fire and Ash. While Dhurandhar keeps ruling the box office, Avatar: Fire and Ash received mixed responses, but it opened with a strong number in India.
As per Sacnilk, James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash earned Rs. 20 crore on day 1. The film faced strong competition from Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar as the espionage thriller continues to rule at the domestic box office. Avatar: Fire and Ash had an overall 69.68% English Occupancy on Friday, December 19, 2025.
While Avatar: Fire an Ash's first day collection is decent, it did not beat Avatar: The Way of Water as the film minted Rs. 48.75 crore in India on its opening day.
Avatar: Fire and Ash (Avatar 3) continues Jake and Neytiri's story as they navigate grief for their lost son, Neteyam.
They face a new conflict with the aggressive Ash people led by Varang and the reanimated Colonel Quaritch in his Avatar. This leads them to confront dark themes, tribal warfare, and the challenges of survival for their adopted son, Spider, in addition to expanding the fiery volcanic regions of Pandora through stunning visuals, exploring the idea that not all Na'vi are pure heroes.
The plot centres on the Sully family's emotional fractures, a battle for resources (Amrit), and a search for spiders to save, resulting in a tragic alliance and a powerful display of nature's wrath through Kiri's connection to Eywa.
Avatar: Fire and Ash is James Cameron’s third film in the franchise after Avatar (2009) and Avatar: The Way of Water (2022). In Avatar: Fire and Ash, Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña reprise their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri te Tskaha Mo'at'ite, respectively.
The OTTplay review for Avatar: Fire and Ash stated that the narrative has started to lose its naivety. The film is an extraordinarily slow-motion picture that at times chokes on its own smoke, providing a sense of deja vu that even the most ferocious volcanic activity cannot completely melt away. "It’s a stunning spectacle, but for a franchise built on soaring high, this entry struggles to truly catch fire," the review further read.
Avatar: Fire and Ash will be available for streaming on JioHotstar after its theatrical run. Once it drops on OTT, you will also be able to stream it with your OTTplay Premium subscription.
