Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar has been successfully running in theatres for twenty days now. James Cameron's sci-fi flick Avatar: Fire and Ash, which was released on December 19, is struggling to catch up with Dhurandhar. However, the third installment of the Avatar franchise managed to rake in good numbers from worldwide collections. Let's take a look at its sixth-day collection.
According to tracker Sacnilk, the movie earned Rs 10.3 crore on Wednesday, taking the total collection to Rs 95.75 crore from India till now. Meanwhile, Aditya Dhar's directorial collected Rs 17.25 crore on Wednesday, taking the total collection to Rs 607.25 crore.
While Avatar: Fire and Ash couldn't challenge Dhurandhar at the Indian box office, it grossed $450 million at the worldwide box office before Christmas, as per Box Office Mojo. Its highest collection from India till now was on its third day, earning Rs 25.75 crore.
Avatar: Fire and Ash had an overall 26.93% occupancy on December 24. While the morning shows were at 15.57%, the afternoon shows saw a jump to 27.30%, that kept rising to 32.55% in the evening and finally the night shows recorded 32.29%.
The third instalment of James Cameron's movie introduces Ash people, who are a nomadic fire-worshipping Na'vi tribe, belonging to Pandora's volcanic regions. The Ash tribe are led by Varang (Oona Chaplin), and they deeply resent Eywa, believing the goddess has abandoned them during the disaster. Varang joins hands with Colonel Quaritch to launch a horrific war against the Sullys' family and Metkayina reef clan.
Meanwhile, the Sully family has just been stable after their elder son's death in the last movie, and is already facing the aggression of the Ash people. Fire and Ash explores family bonds, past trauma, vengeance versus emotional healing and the cost of survival on Pandora, contrasting the Sullys' connection with Varang's destructive path.
