Avatar: The Way of Water will make its streaming debut on Disney+ Hotstar in India on June 7, 2023, bringing with it the waters of Pandora. When the film debuts on the streaming platform, viewers will be able to dive back into the seas of Pandora with a slew of new extras. Fans can watch the original movie in the series as they wait for the sequel to be released on the service.
The December 2022 release of Avatar: The Way of Water was met with universal praise and went on to become the highest-grossing picture of all time, with a global total of almost $2.32 billion. Disney is using its strong legs by delaying the streaming release for six months, which is unusual in a market where most films are released on streaming services soon after their theatrical debut. With a summer premiere set for June 7 on Disney+ Hotstar, there's no better way to welcome the warmer weather than with a trip to Pandora.
While Avatar: The Way of Water has been warmly received by fans, the franchise is just getting started, with sequels already in the works. The third Avatar film is scheduled for release in December 2024, picking up right where the second film left off, with the Sully family having fully acclimated to life with the Metkayina Tribe. James Cameron, the film's director, assures us, however, that there are uncharted planets to be discovered in the future and that the next episode will do just that by introducing the Ash People, a tribe of Na'Vi who live in Pandora's volcanic zone, thus expanding the plot while shifting the spotlight back to Lo'ak as the film's narrator.
Two more sequels have been planned and are ready to go into production. Fans of the franchise have a lot to look forward to when they visit Pandora again in the future.
On June 7, Disney+ Hotstar will be flooded with Avatar: The Way of Water.
