Following their breakout success in Avengers: Endgame six years ago, the Avengers have reunited. Marvel Studios revealed the cast of Avengers: Doomsday over a nearly five-and-a-half-hour livestream. The actors included both MCU veterans and newcomers from the X-Men universe and Fantastic Four: First Steps at 20th Century Fox. Tom Holland (Spider-Man) and Chris Evans (Captain America) were not included in the roll call, even though they are two notable actors expected to appear in one of the two halves of the movies.
Thor (Christopher Hemsworth), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), The Falcon (Danny Ramirez), and M'Baku (Winston Duke) were among the actors whose roles were announced.

The live stream revealed that several members of the cast of the upcoming May release of the Marvel Studios anti-hero team film Thunderbolts were also in attendance. These included Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), and Lewis Pullman (a character currently known as Bob).
Actors from the 2000 film X-Men, on which Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige got his start as an assistant, were also revealed, along with X-Men stars Patrick Stewart (Prof. X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique).
Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler) and Kelsey Grammer (Beast), who appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand and The Marvels (both produced by 20th Century Fox), will be joining them. After making his debut in Deadpool & Wolverine, Channing Tatum will also be seen in Doomsday. He was previously attached to a Gambit film, but it never materialised.
Joseph Quinn (The Human Torch), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing), Vanessa Kirby (The Invisible Woman), and Pedro Pascal (Mr Fantastic) are all members of the Fantastic Four ensemble.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever actor Tenoch Huerta Mejía's portrayal of Namor was the casting event's initial shocking revelation. His return to Marvel was cast into doubt after allegations of sexual misconduct, which he vehemently disputed as false and completely unsubstantiated in June 2023. In the middle of the media frenzy, he withdrew from a Netflix film, but he seemed to be on good terms with the studio afterward, appearing as a guest at Marvel's Echo screening party.
According to sources, Marvel still has more cast members to reveal, even if it is unclear when and how the change will happen. The original announcement included 26 actors.
It was a routine occurrence. A view of a director's chair bearing the name of a star was added to it. The title and chair would change every twelve minutes or so when the theme song from the following actor's film played. The scene ended with Robert Downey Jr, dressed as Doctor Doom, giving the camera a "shhh" while a fresh arrangement of Alan Silvestri's Avengers theme swelled through the air.
Fans were shocked to hear about Downey's surprise return to the MCU after retiring the character of Iron Man with Endgame when Marvel initially unveiled Avengers: Doomsday during July's San Diego Comic-Con. During their departure from the MCU during Endgame, the Russo Brothers—also known as Marvel's most popular filmmakers—and Downey—the studio's most popular actor—were reunited in this move.
After Downey persuaded the Russo Brothers to come back to the fold after a half-decade of working in the streaming movie industry, Marvel CEO Kevin Feige initially pitched the notion of Downey returning as Doom. Following Stephen McFeely's insightful perspective, the trio made the decision to reunite.
On May 1, 2026, Doomsday will be released, and on May 7, 2027, Avengers: Secret Wars will be the sequel.
