Emily VanCamp, who has been a apart of several Avengers films and Marvel TV shows as Sharon Carter, was one of the principal cast members of Fox TV’s medical drama The Resident. As nurse practitioner Nicollette (Nic) Nevin, she was a series regular in all four seasons so far and her absence in the fifth, has been conspicuous.
As it turns out, Emily’s departure from the show comes at a time that she has welcomed her first born with Josh Bowman, forcing the makers to write her out of the show. Although Nic was mentioned a few times in the first couple of episodes, as she enjoyed a spa-cation, it was clear that she would not be returning.
Her exit from the show has now been addressed, following which the actress took to social media to bid farewell. In a response to a video put together by her co-stars from the show, wherein each member detailed how profound her contribution to The Resident Was, Emily wrote, “Thank you so much for four beautiful years! Feeling so much gratitude for the relationships I’ve gained, the stories I’ve had the opportunity to tell and the many lessons I’ve learned from playing Nic Nevin on The Resident. Thank you to everyone who came on this journey with me and this wonderful character. Thank you to the most incredible cast and crew in television- I already miss you so much. To our writers and producers- collaborating with you over the past four years has been so rewarding and I appreciate you all so much. Thank you for putting this lovely tribute together @foxtv I truly hope you all keep tuning in as I know there are still so many incredible stories to be told here. And mostly- thank you to all of the nurses out there working tirelessly for your patients. Your patience, grit and dedication inspired this character and I’m honored to have played a very small part in telling your stories. Sending you all so much love and thanks.”
