The theatrical collections of films released in the wake of the pandemic had been significantly impacted. This forced the directors to shorten the 8-week window between the theatrical release and the OTT premiere to just 4 weeks. However, after the entertainment business started to bounce again, the original rules were reinstated. While several movies have adopted this strategy, Hrithik Roshan's Vikram Vedha and Varun Dhawan's Bhediya have not. Vikram Vedha came out 19 weeks ago, whilst Bhediya came out 11 weeks ago.

Now, according to Bollywood Hungama, these both films will stream on a new Jio App. A source told the portal, “The idea is to premiere not just Vikram Vedha and Bhediya but also several other films. As per the plan, every week, there’ll be a film premiere. While some of these are theatrical releases, a few of them will get a direct OTT release. The list of all these films will be hopefully unveiled at the time of the launch of the app.”

The September release of Vikram Vedha, starring Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan, and Radhika Apte, received positive reviews. However, this did not result in significant box office revenue, as the movie was only able to bring in about Rs 78.66 crore. The original Vikram Vedha, starring Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi, was directed by the same duo of Pushkar and Gayatri in 2017.

Bhediya, on the other hand, was helmed by Stree director Amar Kaushik and starred Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon.
