Nomadland

The 2020 American neo-western drama is based on the novel Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century by Jessica Bruder. The story is about a woman who leaves her home after her husband’s demise and becomes a van-dwelling nomad in search of a job. During her road journey, she meets several other nomads who share their life experiences with her.

Normal People

The series Normal People is an Irish television drama, based on a book with the same name by Sally Rooney. The story is about two teenagers Connell and Marianne, who share a brilliant intimacy with each other, from the early days of secondary school to their college years. Their struggles pile up as they juggle their complex relationships and insecurities.

A 2015 drama film is based on Emma Donoghue’s novel of the same name. The movie depicts a woman who has been kept in captivity for seven years in a room with her son. She raises her five-year-old in the confined space that is their entire world. However, on their escape, the child gets a glimpse of the outside world which he had never seen.

The Witcher

It is a fantasy drama television series based on Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel. Filmed with a keen similarity to the images of the book, the story is about the life of Geralt, a witcher, a mutant with special powers, who kills monsters for money. If you enjoy the fantasy genre, then this is a good one packed with amazing action scenes.

The Lovely Bones

It is a 2009 supernatural thriller drama film based on American writer Alice Sebold’s novel. The story is about a 14-year-old Susie Salmon who gets raped and murdered by her neighbor Harvey and dumped into a sink. Her spirit is stuck ‘in between’ as it refuses to leave and watches her family desperately search for her.

Jurassic Park

A 1993 blockbuster hit directed by Steven Spielberg, this movie is based on a novel by Michael Crichton. This breathtaking movie is a masterpiece that has some amazing visual and sound effects. The first film of the franchise, Jurassic Park, revolves around a few scientists who visit a genetically engineered dinosaur theme park. An unexpected series of incidents lead to the creatures breaking free while the humans find themselves surrounded by predators.
