Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Ayalaan and Dhanush’s Captain Miller have been two of the most successful Pongal releases this festive season. The films have been raking in record collections at the box office and are also giving a tough competition to one another. The Dhanush-starrer period action flick has now surpassed a milestone collection. The Arun Matheswaran film, which collected around ₹16.29 crore on the opening day, went on to mint approximately ₹14.18 crore on day 2, ₹15.65 crore on day 3, ₹13.51 crore on day four and has now grossed a collection of ₹ 59.63 crore worldwide.
Meanwhile, Sivakarthikeyan’s science-fiction comedy is currently racing ahead among the Pongal releases, with an impressive collection. The sci-fi film, which collected around ₹15 crore on the opening day, has now collected approximately ₹59 crore. Though collections show similar numbers, the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer has been picking up more momentum and is likely to get ahead of other Pongal releases this festive season. However, both the films are expected to cross ₹100 crore in the coming days.
Ayalaan’s sequel in works
The Sivakarthikeyan-starrer has been loved by the audiences, especially by kids, and the makers are planning on developing its second instalment soon! As revealed by Sivakarthikeyan and the makers of the film, the audiences can expect its sequel, which is expected to go on floors soon. The Doctor actor revealed in an interview that since the makers have the technical knowledge of making the film, including about how to go about with the CGI-visual effect, the filmmakers are planning on a sequel. So, we can expect another exciting sci-fi comedy with the stellar cast once again.
Captain Miller’s Telugu trailer drops today
Telugu audiences who have been eagerly awaiting the release of the period action film will be able to watch the trailer of the film at 6pm today (January 17). Telugu superstar Nagarjuna will be unveiling the Telugu version’s trailer on his social media handles. The Telugu version of the Dhanush-starrer is slated to hit the big screens on January 25.
