Today is an auspicious day for followers of Hinduism globally. This noon, the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya will be held, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending the rituals, following which the shrine will be opened for the public a day later. On such a remarkable day, a brigade of Bollywood celebrities has descended Ayodhya, with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif posing together in a frame.

In a historic development, highly influential Bollywood superstars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, and Katrina Kaif were clicked together at Ayodhya airport. Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif donned gorgeous silk sarees, while Ranbir and Vicky wore traditional attires.
Along with them, eminent filmmakers Rohit Shetty and Rajkumar Hirani were also present. Madhuri Dixit and her husband Shriram Madhav Nene too joined the stars. By looking at the photo, it appears that all these celebs glided to the city together via a plane.
On this day, what is special about Ram Temple in Ayodhya?
The Ram Mandir stands as a Hindu temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India, situated at the revered site of Ram Janmabhoomi, believed to be the birthplace of Rama, a central deity in Hinduism.
On August 5, 2020, the 'bhumi pujan' ceremony marked the initiation of the Ram Mandir's construction, officiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Presently under construction, the temple is overseen by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The 'prana pratishtha' ceremony for the temple is scheduled for today.
The site previously housed the Babri Masjid, built in the 16th century CE. In 1949, idols of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita were placed in the mosque, which was later attacked and demolished in 1992. In 2019, the Supreme Court of India ruled in favor of granting the disputed land to Hindus for the construction of a temple, while Muslims would receive alternative land to build a mosque.
