Ayushman Khurrana hints at playing Sourav Ganguly: Doing a film on cricket is a part of my bucket list

If all goes well, Ayushman Khurrana will play Sourav Ganguly on the big screen. In a recent interview, the actor hinted at that. Earlier, speculations over Ranbir Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan’s names were rife. 

In the interview, Ayushman said that he was going to work on a dream project. “Doing a film on cricket is a part of my bucket list and I hope it gets fulfilled soon. I think my cricket skills will come in handy whenever such films happen,” he said. Ayushman was an under-19 district-level cricketer in Punjab.

Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg will produce the biopic while Aishwarya Rajinikanth will reportedly direct it. The producers met Dada earlier this year. As per reports, they discussed the script. If everything goes well, then the shooting may start in 2024.

Earlier, Ranbir’s name was one of the strongest contenders to play the character. Sourav once said that he would want to see Ranbir Kapoor playing his role. Ranbir came to Kolkata in February during the promotion of his film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. He met Sourav at that time. They played cricket and spent a considerable time together. That incited the speculation that Ranbir will play Sourav in his biopic. Now, it has been reported that Ayushmann Khurrana may play the character.
