It has been widely reported that Ayushmann Khurrana will play Sourav Ganguly in the former Indian men’s cricket captain’s biopic. Jubilee-fame Vikramaditya Motwane will direct the film. As per reports, the director of cricket of Delhi Capitals is deeply connected with the updates of the film.
Sourav’s biopic will be produced by Luv Ranjan, who visited Kolkata and met Sourav Ganguly last year. As per sources, Ayushmann and Sourav also met a number of times. According to sources, Ayushmann needs to understand the cricketing legend more closely, and hence their meetings took place.
Earlier, it was speculated that Ranbir Kapoor may play the character. In fact, when the actor came to Kolkata to promote Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, he met Dada at Eden Gardens. They played a brief friendly match. There, Sourav told media that he would love to see Ranbir in his biopic. However, later Ayushmann’s name was finalised. Ayushmann is also a left-handed batter like Sourav.
There are a number of meetings scheduled between Soutrav and Ayushmann. However, according to reports, time has been a problem between them. Besides his responsibilities of the Delhi IPL team, Sourav is also busy with his brand promotions, shooting endorsements, and hosting the reality show, Dadagiri for Zee Bangla (which streams on Zee5 and one can watch it on OTTplay Premium). However, there was a meeting. According to reports, Sourav flew to Mumbai on April 7 as Delhi was playing against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium. He met Ayushmann during his visit.
