Ayushmann Khurrana's first release of 2023 is Dream Girl 2, and the actor is leaving no stone unturned in promoting the film. The actor reprises his role as Karamveer in the sequel and takes his character, Pooja, to the next level in the upcoming installment. Ananya Panday joins Ayushmann this time as the leading lady. In a recent interview, he opened up about having initial inhibitions about roping in the new-gen actor opposite him.
Ayushmann told Bollywood Hungama, "I was always thinking that she's an urban girl, and how she'd get accustomed to the milieu of Mathura, a city from tier-2 India. But she adapted really well. Every 10 kilometres, the accent changes in our country. But she was bang on with the accent."
Further speaking about the same, the actor went on to say, "If you're a Bombay girl, it's tough to catch those accents. Main toh phir bhi Hindi bolta hoon, Hindi mein sochta hoon toh mujhse phir bhi ho jata hai (I still speak in Hindi, I think in Hindi, and so it still happens with me). But she's done a great job in the film. And we've seen that in the past as well, in Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019). UP ki ek film kar chuki hai (She's already done a film set in Uttar Pradesh)."
Dream Girl 2 has an ensemble cast that includes Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Vijay Raaz, Asrani, Abhishek Banerjee, Manjot Singh, and Seema Pahwa.
In the film, Karam (Ayushmann), from Mathura, has a father who borrowed money from practically everyone he could find. But he has feelings for Pari (Ananya), whose father is holding firm on their marriage requirements. Karam impersonates Pooja to make ends meet, leading to hilarious anarchy and a comedy of blunders.
Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and produced by Ektaa R. Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under Balaji Motion Pictures, Dream Girl 2 is slated to release on August 25, 2023.
