While Ayushmann Khurrana’s Anek and Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 released in theatres in May, both had dissimilar fate at the box office. The latter went on to become this year’s second highest-grossing Bollywood movie earning more than Rs 250 crore while Anek couldn’t quite create a stir at the box office. However, with both movies poised for their OTT release this month, they could still draw up record numbers for the streaming platform.

Netflix released their June releases list a few days ago and both Bollywood films have been listed in the upcoming film section. With the OTT release window between 30 and 45 days after their theatrical release, the movies are now expected to drop within a week apart, in the final week of June and the first week of July.

As per reports, Anek, which is helmed by Anubhav Sinha, is expected to drop on Netflix on June 26. However, there has been no official confirmation from the streaming service or the makers, apart from a tweet from the OTT giant that the film is set to release soon. The movie, which is an action thriller, has Ayushmann playing an undercover agent trying to expose a rebel group.

Meanwhile, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which is still going strong in theatres, released on Netflix on June 19. The horror-comedy, which also has Tabu and Kiara Advani, is a spin-off of Akshay Kumar’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa and revolves around a fraud psychic essayed by Kartik who is roped in to handle the malevolent spirit of Manjulika.
