Ayyana Mane OTT release date: When and where to watch Kannada original crime drama series

After years of seeing original content created for, and by, mainstream platforms in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam and having intense emotions about the abject disregard for Kannada and audiences here, it appears a shift in attitude is finally here. A leading streaming platform today announced the release of its first-ever Kannada original crime drama.

Ayyana Mane coming to Zee5 on...

Called Ayyana Mane, the 7-part crime drama has been produced by Shruti Naidu, better known for Kannada TV series like Brahmagantu, Yaare Nee Mohini, Sangharsha and many more, as well as the Kannada movie, Premier Padmini, starring Jaggesh and Pramod in the lead. Ayyana Mane has been directed by Ramesh Indira, who is better known as Sapta Sagaradaache Ello’s Soma or Kotee’s Dinoo Saavkaar, and is currently one of the most sought-after villains in Kannada cinema. It stars Dia fame Kushee Ravi, Akshya Nayak and Manasi Sudheer, among others, on the cast. All 7 episodes of Ayyana Mane will drop on Zee5, and by extension on OTTplay Premium on April 25.

According to the official synopsis of Ayyana Mane, the show has horror elements too, revolving around the mysterious deaths in an old mansion – a place where no woman has survived. The story follows Jaji (Kushee), who is married into a family in which three other daughters-in-law have perished under strange circumstances. Once she becomes aware of this chilling secret, Jaji tries to get to the bottom of it, with some help from the house help and a cop. Are the deaths linked to the family deity? Is there a curse or something more sinister at play?

With her life on the line, this is what Jaji has to find out before time runs out and it becomes too late for her. Ayyana Mane joins a long list of Zee5 originals like, Ayali, Broken News, Vikkatakavi, Taj, Manorathangal and many more, as the first Kannada show on the platform. It’s been a while since mainstream content makers have ventured into the web series space in Kannada. There were a few produced by Niveditha Shivarajkumar and RJ Pradeepa, like Honeymoon, By Mistake, Hate U Romeo that came with little to no fanfare, others like Kyaabre, headed straight to YouTube.
