Baaghi 4: Tiger Shroff’s latest outing as Ronnie a remake of THIS Tamil movie?

On August 30, after the trailer of Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4 came out, one question that netizens had was which film this instalment in the franchise was based on. So far, all three of the earlier Baaghi films have been adapted from Telugu and Tamil films. The first one directed by Sabir Khan, was based on the Prabhas starrer Varsham (2004) that came out 12 years before Tiger’s version. Two years later, Ahmed Khan worked on the remake of the Adivi Shesh-led Kshanam (2016).

For the third chapter in the franchise, Baaghi 3, the ma kers then looked at Tamil cinema, picking N Linguswamy’s Aryaa and R Madhavan led Vettai (2012) for inspiration. Highly unlikely then that the makers would find an original tale for the fourth one then, reckoned netizens, who then got busy trying to find out which tale was chosen to be adapted. And one of them seems to have hit jackpot.

Baaghi 4 picks up Tamil film from over a decade ago

A netizen has cited filmmaker Aritra Banerjee’s efforts in digging up the original source of Baaghi 4. According to them, the film, directed by Kannada filmmaker A Harsha, who makes his Bollywood debut with Baaghi 4, is based on the 2013 Tamil film Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu . An action thriller starring Bharath in the lead, this was written and directed by Sasi, and was a hit back in the day. The film also starred Chandini Sreedharan, Erica Fernandes, Sudesh Berry and Santhanam, among others.

In Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu, Bharath was Aravind, who meets with a terrible accident and then claims that at the time of the incident, he was with his girlfriend. But try as he might, he is unable to convince anyone that there ever was a special someone in his life. Is the girl a figment of Aravind’s imagination or something else at play? This is pretty much what’s come across in the trailer of Baaghi 4 as well.

The Hindi film, meanwhile, also stars Sanjay Dutt, Harnaaz Sandhu, Sonam Bajwa, Shreyas Talpade, Upendra Limaye, among others. Filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala shares writing credits with Rajat Arora on the film that has cinematography by Harsha’s regular collaborator, Swamy J Gowda.
