Madhur Bhandarkar's upcoming comedy-drama film Babli Bouncer is written by Amit Joshi, Aradhana Debnath, and him. The film stars Tamannaah Bhatia and is set to be released on Disney+ Hotstar on September 23, 2022. Babli Bouncer is a narrative of Babli, a small-town girl from Asola Fatepur who travels to Delhi in search of a job and makes it big as a bouncer.

Bhandarkar stated at the trailer launch that the decision to make Babli Bouncer a light-hearted comedy was deliberate. They wanted to make the film fun rather than serious. They didn't go overboard or make it larger than life. It's a good mix of Manmohan Desai, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, and Basu Chatterjee films.

According to Bhandarkar, the film is suited for an OTT release. This, in his opinion, is the ideal film for OTT. The producers felt the same way. Today, OTT has a sizable viewership and people want to watch fantastic movies, whether on Netflix or in the theatre. The filmmaker said that the lines have become hazy.

Bhatia, who primarily works in Tamil and Telugu films but has also appeared in a few Hindi films, stated that the film emphasises women's physical strength rather than their emotional strength. The actor said that in our culture, and even in cinema, a woman's physical strength is rarely displayed; but, her emotional strength is. They have seen it all before in emotionally strong characters, but how should she look? There are numerous tropes that this film attempts to break in a lighthearted manner.

Babli Bouncer is produced by Star Studios and Junglee Pictures. The film also stars Saurabh Shukla, Abhishek Bajaj, and Sahil Vaid in supporting roles. The movie will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

The film marks the first outing of Madhur Bhandarkar and Tamannaah Bhatia onscreen.
