Varun Dhawan's actioner, Baby John continues to struggle at the box office. It is being replaced by Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule, Unni Mukundan's Marco, and Mufasa: The Lion King in various theaters. Even after the second Thursday, Baby John could not collect Rs. 40 crore at the box office. It witnessed a new low on day 9, as per Sacnilk.
As per Sacnilk, Varun Dhawan's Baby John collected only Rs. 1 crore at the domestic box office, making a total of Rs. 36.40 crore. This majot decline in numbers leads to a reduction in the number of shows. Initially released across over 3,500 screens, the film saw a sharp drop in collections from day 2. Last week, many single-screen theaters reportedly dropped Baby John from their schedules due to low attendance.
Baby John follows after DCP Satya Verma IPS (Varun Dhawan) kills the son of Babbar Sher (Jackie Shroff) for a serious crime, the two get embroiled in a power struggle that ends with Babbar destroying Satya's family.
As his daughter Khushi (Zara Zyanna) was the only one to escape, Satya pretends to be dead so he and Khushi can live a quiet life in Kerala as Baby John. Satya takes revenge on Sher and protects Khushi when the latter threatens his quiet life after learning about his existence.
Meanwhile, OTTplay review of Baby John reads, "Baby John tries to rock the cradle of Bollywood with South Indian masala but ends up crying over spilt milk. While Varun Dhawan flexes his dual avatars, the film crawls in its crib of clichés, unable to walk the tightrope between style and substance."
In Baby John, Varun Dhawan plays the main lead. It also stars Keerthy Suresh (debut in Hindi cinema), Wamiqa Gabbi, Zara Zyanna, and Jackie Shroff in significant roles. The film is produced by Jio Studios, Cine1 Studios, and A for Apple Productions. It features music composed by the talented Thaman S, while Kiran Koushik takes care of the cinematography and Ruben takes charge of editing.
The pan-India film, presented by Jawan director Atlee and directed by Kalees, will be available for streaming on Prime Video in 2025 following its theatrical release.
