Despite a lot of promotions and hype around the release of Akshay Kumar starrer Bachchhan Paandey, the film failed to rake in the moolah at the box office. On the other hand, Vivek Agnihotri's directorial The Kashmir Files which was released in theatres a week before Akshay Kumar's film continues to gather amazing footfalls. While Bachchhan Paandey is struggling to cross the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office after a week of its release, The Kashmir Files has already crossed the Rs 200 crore figure and continues to do well even after two weeks.

Recently, Akshay Kumar shared the stage with Vivek Agnihotri at the Chitra Bharti Film Festival which was held in Bhopal. While speaking on the occasion, Akshay extended his support to The Kashmir Files. A clip from the video has been going viral on social media, where Akshay can be heard saying that we all need to narrate the stories of our country. Some of these stories may be a little known while others would be unknown.

While giving the example of The Kashmir Files in this context, he added how Vivek brought to light a horrific truth of the country with his latest film. "The Kashmir Files came as a wave which shook us all. However, it's a different matter altogether that it drowned my film (referring to Bachchhan Paandey) too."

Vivek Agnihotri's film has been receiving positive word of mouth which has translated into increased footfalls at the theatres and has given a tough competition to the films that were released in theatres in the following weeks. If trade analysts are to be believed, the tremendous performance of The Kashmir Files at the ticket windows has greatly affected and hampered the box office collections of Bachchhan Paandey, despite it being a holiday release.

Bachchhan Paandey was Akshay Kumar's much-anticipated film and it was touted to be a blockbuster but it seems to be struggling to even reach the Rs 100 crore mark, while The Kashmir Files continues to roar at the box office even after two weeks of its release. Also starring Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arshad Warsi, Bachchhan Paandey hit the theatres on March 18. The Kashmir Files stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi and Darshan Kumar and it was released in theatres on March 11.
