Anjali Menon, whose last directorial was Wonder Women in 2022, is back with her next project. But this time, the noted writer-filmmaker chose to do a short film, titled Backstage, featuring Rima Kallingal and Padmapriya. The short film, which is a part of the anthology, Yuva Sapno ka Safar, is now available for streaming on the OTT platform, Waves. Anjali Menon, who has carved a niche for herself in the Malayalam cinema, has once again attempted to bring a fresh perspective through Backstage. The short film, led by Rima Kallingal and Padmapriya, can be streamed on Waves. Backstage is the fourth episode in the Yuva Sapno ka Safar anthology. Viewers can watch the short film for free on the platform.

The nearly one-hour-long Backstage narrates the tale of Kanya and Gauri who started off together in their dance school but part ways with one becoming successful while the other is left struggling. The short film is winning love on social media with Lucifer star Manju Warrier, Navya Nair and many others praising Backstage.

The Malayalam anthology, which has nine short stories, featured the A-listers of Malayalam, including Mohanlal, Mammootty, Fahadh Faasil, Biju Menon, Asif Ali, and Parvathy Thiruvothu. The series, based on the legendary MT Vasudevan Nair’s stories, was also helmed by acclaimed filmmakers Jayaraj, Priyadarshan, Santhosh Sivan, Ranjith, Shyamaprasad and Mahesh Narayanan
Anjali Menon, who is probably known best for Bangalore Days, last directed Wonder Women, which also featured Padmapriya. The English-language film, starring Nadiya Moidu, Nithya Menen and Parvathy Thiruvothu, had a direct OTT release on SonyLiv. You can also stream the film now on OTTplay Premium.
Anjali had penned the script for Dulquer Salmaan’s Ustad Hotel, which also starred Thilakan and Nithya Menen. The popular Malayalam film, which narrates the tale of an aspiring chef, is also available on Aha and OTTplay Premium
She had also directed Koode, Manjadikuru and a segment in the anthology Kerala Cafe.
