It takes a village to create a franchise that not only achieves success but also maintains a strong audience pull for three decades. There is so much that goes into making one that you can only imagine the art of the artists involved. Bad Boys is one such franchise that kick-started in 1995 and has released only four films so far, with the fourth one, Bad Boys: Ride Or Die, looking at an over $50 million opening. This means that Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have struck gold once again, and the entire franchise is a treasure. The two stars returned for Bad Boys: Ride Or Die while accepting their age on screen, hinting at a very inclusive and exciting future for the franchise. But is there a future planned?
One has to be very delusional to think Sony is not already shaping a part five to Bad Boys after witnessing the pathbreaking success of Bad Boys: Ride Or Die. But what about the actors? Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have aged with the franchise, and as the opening of Ride Or Die suggests, they are in their early 50s. The actors have now spoken about the possibility of Bad Boys 5 and whether they would want to do it. They have some conditions, and they make all the sense. Read on to know everything you should about the same.
As per Screen Rant, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence spoke about the possibility of Bad Boys 5. While the two stars are ready to do these films as long as the audience wants them to, they are also sure that the young actors will have to do more of the stunts. Will Smith said, “Well, these younger actors are going to need to do more of the stunts, that's for sure. It is a world and characters that are just an absolute joy to be with. In a movie theater with Mike and Marcus, it just feels like home. So, as long as there's a reason — I never wanted to be one of those dudes who make sequels just because people will go.”
“I want to make them because there is something to say and the characters have a place that they're developing to that will be interesting and fun to watch and maybe even a little helpful. Is there something that can happen in these characters' lives that is worth asking people to go to a movie theater for? And with this movie, the answer is a resounding yes,” he added.
Bad Boys star Martin Lawrence also feels the same, as making these films is a fun process for him, and he wants to give fans what they want. So, as long as fans want it and there is a demand, he wants to keep trying it.
Before Bad Boys: Ride Or Die, there are three films in the franchise: Bad Boys, Bad Boys II, and Bad Boys for Life. All of them are streaming in India on Jio Cinema, YouTube (on rent), Google Play (on rent), and Apple TV (on rent).
