After being available to rent on Prime Video and ZEE5 (OTTplay Premium), Bad Boys: Ride or Die is all set for its full-fledged OTT release in India. The 2024 buddy police action comedy, featuring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in leading roles, will start streaming on Netflix on September 6, 2024.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die directorial and cast details

Adil and Bilall helmed the film, which is the fourth installment in the Bad Boys buddy cop series and the follow-up to Bad Boys for Life (2020). Adil penned the screenplay with Will Beall, and returning from earlier chapters are Joe Pantoliano, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Núñez, Jacob Scipio, John Salley, and DJ Khaled. Tasha Smith replaces Theresa Randle, who portrayed Theresa Burnett in the first three films. However, Pantoliano is the only original Bad Boys actor (apart from the titular duo) who can legitimately say that he was in all four films.

The plot of Bad Boys: Ride or Die follows Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett as they attempt to clear their late captain, Conrad Howard, of a false conspiracy conviction.

Box office success

With a production budget of $100 million, it became the ninth highest-grossing film of 2024, earning over $400 million worldwide.

Future of the franchise

According to an interview with Entertainment Weekly published in June 2024, Smith and Lawrence expressed their willingness to return for a fifth installment in the franchise, with the caveat that the younger actors in the cast should perform more stunts and the plot involving their characters should be compelling. Lawrence added that fan demand would also influence the decision.

The producers have been mainly waiting to see how Bad Boys: Ride or Die does at the box office, but there have been conversations regarding a fifth Bad Boys film, as producer Jerry Bruckheimer mentioned.

Meanwhile, within the franchise, Pantoliano's Bad Boys: Ride or Die was probably the official Swan song.
