Bad Girl is an upcoming Tamil film which is all set to release this week. Directed by Varsha Bharath, the coming-of-age film has already been on the international film festival circuit. It won the NETPAC Award for Best Asian Film at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and Young Jury Award for Best Feature Film at the 40th Cinema Jove - Valencia International Film Festival in Spain. Bad Girl, the upcoming Tamil film is all set to release in theatres in India on September 5. The film will be releasing along with another Tamil film Madharaasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan and directed by AR Murugadoss.
The cast of Bad Girl is led by Anjali Sivaraman, who was seen in Netflix’s Cobalt Blue and Class. Apart from her, the film also features actors Shanthi Priya, Saranya Ravichandran, Hridhu Haroon, TeeJay Arunasalam, Sashank Bommireddipalli in supporting roles.
Directed by debutant Varsha Bharath, Bad Girl has been shot by three cinematographers, including Preetha Jayaraman (ISC), Jagadeesh Ravi, and Prince Anderson. It is edited by Radha Sridhar, with Amit Trivedi scoring the music. Bad Girl is produced by director Vetri Maaran, who recently said that he will be shutting down his banner after release of this film.
The teaser of Bad Girl follows the life of a young girl Ramya, who grows up in a traditional household. As the teaser begins with her school days when she wants to have a boyfriend, the teaser shows how she gets close to a boy from her class, and what follows is a series of life moments of Ramya from various stages.

Bad Girl is a coming-of-age drama about a girl called Ramya, as the film takes us through her high-school, college and adult days. With her dream being finding the perfect guy, Ramya's life is not that easy with societal norms and patriarchy blocking her way in form of strict household and even more vigilant society. Bad Girl deals with Ramya's journey of love, loss and resilience in her own way in this chaotic world.
Bad Girl has been censored U/A 16+, and has a crisp runtime of one hour and 52 minutes.
