2021 was a special year for Daali Dhananjaya for many reasons, but more so for it marked the release of his home production, Badava Rascal, which starred him in the lead alongside Amrutha Iyengar, Rangayana Raghu, Nagabhushana and Tara. Produced under Daali Pictures, the Kannada film written and directed by debutant Guru Shankar had hit theatres on the eve of Christmas and opened to a warm response from critics and audiences. Badava Rascal is now getting ready for its digital premiere on Voot Select and is tentatively expected to release on the platform in the last week of January 2022.
Incidentally, the title of the film, Badava Rascal, was bought by Dhananjaya from filmmaker Yogaraj Bhat, who had registered it earlier. The film essentially revolves around Shankara, who wants to make it big in life on his own terms despite having an MBA degree. From a happy family to a supportive girlfriend and friends, the youngster has it all. There's a twist in the tale when his girlfriend refuses to marry him out of the blues. Is there more to the tale than meets the eye?
Dhananjaya has consistently referred to Badava Rascal as a family entertainer that'll appeal to all audiences. The film goes beyond a quintessential romance and discusses full of family and friendship values with great depth. Badava Rascal is a perfect mix of fun and meaningful content and is expected to be an ideal watch on OTT as well. The film, which has a running time close to 135 minutes, has music by Vasuki Vaibhav and is edited by Niranjan Devaramane, while Preetha Jayaraman has cranked the camera for the same.
