Badava Rascal is a special film for its leading man, Dhananjaya; it is, after all, his maiden attempt at production, under his home banner Daali Pictures. The film is coming to theatres on December 24, in the run-up to which the team has been sharing interesting bits from the film, be it the songs – Udupi Hotel and Aagaga Nenapaguthale – teaser or the trailer that dropped today. There’s a sense of anticipation among audiences to see what Dhananjaya will bring to the table not only in his capacity as actor, but producer as well. And going by all what we have seen so far, it seems that it will be fun film with action too.

On Monday, with only 10 days to go for the film’s release, the trailer of Badava Rascal came out, which well and truly established what Dhananjaya’s character Shankar was all about – someone who lives and dies by friendship. Early on in the trailer someone says that it is possible to control a tusker gone beserk, but not Shankar, which then cuts to him beating up goons, in a trademark auto driver khaki uniform. He also finds love in the character played by Amrutha Iyengar, who, it seems, is less than pleased with his friends, whom she ‘threatens’ to serve poisoned coffee, once she’s married to Shankar. But, of course, their love tale also comes with its fair share of drama.

Badava Rascal, incidentally, is a title that Dhananjaya got from filmmaker Yogaraj Bhat, who had registered it earlier. The film was recently cleared by the censor board with a U/A certification, which, the actor-producer says is testimony to the fact that it is family entertainer that will appeal to all audiences. With music by Vasuki Vaibhav, the film also stars Nagabhushan, Poornachandra Mysuru, Tara and Rangayana Raghu in pivotal roles.
