Bagheera is a Hombale Films production with 'Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire' director Prashanth Neel penning the story.
With 'Bagheera' marking the reunion (in a way) of Prashanth Neel and Sriimurali, Kannada audiences have been mighty keen to know what the film was all about. After much ado, the first glimpse, or the teaser, of the film dropped earlier today, on December 17, to mark Sriimurali's 42nd birthday. Although the teaser doesn't explicitly reveal the plot or the storyline of the film, it is already safe to say that there's something special on the cards.
Directed by Dr. Suri, 'Bagheera' promises to be an intense action venture that also boasts a strong story centred around the protagonist. Sriimurali, as seen in the teaser, plays a cop in the film but we also gather that there's much more to him. With echoes of Batman and other vigilante films, 'Bagheera' is set to offer a superhero-like character to Kannada cinema that is out to seek justice in its own unique way.
Of course, 'Bagheera' has been in the news ever since it was announced and one of the main reasons is the fact that Prashanth Neel has penned the story. Neel's essence of a world that's mystical, larger-than-life yet gritty is apparent in the visuals, which also reveal that it isn't any run-of-mill actioner.
While it is evident from the first glimpse that 'Bagheera' is an out-and-out action film, what potentially separates the film from the rest is the slickness with which those action or fight sequences have been executed. In his previous conversation with OTTplay, the film's cinematographer AJ Shetty (of 'Kabzaa' fame) confirmed that, indeed, there is a certain "superhero-like" quality to the visuals of the film, adding that the palette of the film is dark and grim.
The cast of 'Bagheera' also includes Rukmini Vasanth with senior actor Prakash Raj also rumoured to be a part of the film. Previously, Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil, too, was speculated to be play a key role but according to reports, he has opted out of the film.
Well-known action choreographer Chethan D'Souza is associated with 'Bagheera' with Ajaneesh B. Loknath scoring the music. Dr. Suri has also written the dialogues and the screenplay of the film and Hombale Films has produced it.
