In the last 10 years, since Ugramm, Roaring Star Sriimurali is only on his sixth film with Bagheera, when it releases on October 31. In fact, since his 2003 cinema debut, he has done all of 23 films so far, which he says is because he could not see himself in a lot of the roles that were offered to him. “I think that throughout my career, there have been more films that I did not take up than the once I did,” he said in a conversation with The Hindu.
The reason, he reckons is that he understands the difference between wrapping up movies quick and making fast money and doing films with a lot more care and concern. Sriimurali belongs to the second category, but he doesn’t think that’s the best way to go about things. “Yes, it is ideal to do a bunch of films in quick succession, and collaborate with good teams in the process. The problem therein, is that sometimes everything comes together perfectly, but that may not be the case all the time. The next best is to do films at your own pace, without dragging it along too long also, and do a good job at it,” he says.
Sriimurali adds that he has often been told by people within the industry and his fans to do more films in quick succession. In fact, recently, his cousin Shivarajkumar said this during a cross promotional interview of Bagheera and Bhairathi Ranagal and explained his funda of doing back-to-back films moving from one set to the next at break-neck speed. “I have taken all of these suggestions into consideration and will try my best to ensure that the turnaround time on my films is a lot faster,” he says.
Incidentally, Bagheera is a film that Sriimurali spent 3 years on. His last release was in December 2021, when Madhagaja came out.
