Bagundhi Ee Kaalame from Dear Megha - This Sid Sriram number is an instant earworm

From Devadasu to Maro Charitra to the recent blockbuster Uppena, music has been the lifeline of most iconic love stories in Telugu cinema. Dear Megha, a love triangle featuring Megha Akash, Adith Arun, and Arjun Somayajula in pivotal roles, promises to be a worthy addition to the list. The film's teaser, songs and promos hint at an intense love story with memorable performances. Bagundhi Ee Kaalame, a breezy number from the film sung by Sid Sriram, launched on Thursday, is a mellifluous beauty that takes a music lover by storm with its haunting quality.

Sid Sriram's husky, mellowed-down voice coasts along with effortless ease, while the scenic visuals capture the innocence, purity and little nothings of first love. The singer shows remarkable progress with his Telugu diction in comparison to his numbers in the recent past. The significance of the number is that the composition complements the singer as much as the other way round. Megha Akash and Arjun Somayajula's terrific on-screen chemistry, as a carefree couple spending time with each other across various parts of a city, adds to the surreal texture of the number. 

The number is intentionally slow-paced, probably to underline the timelessness experienced by a lovestruck couple. Beaches, a two-wheeler ride on a chilly night, the joy of togetherness, the number has it all. Krishna Kanth continues his glorious form as a lyricist with lines like 'Bagundhi ee kaalame, Bandinchi dacheyanaa, Vandella anandame, Eevale cherindana.' Hari Gaura is proving to be a surprise package as a composer. Arjun Dasyan produces the film that has been written and directed by Sushant Reddy. Dear Megha is the Telugu remake of the Kannada hit Dia.
