Balan: Chidambaram-Jithu Madhavan film kicks off with pooja ceremony, Coolie star Soubin Shahir in attendance

Balan, which brings together noted filmmakers Chidambaram and Jithu Madhavan as a director-writer combo, has kicked off shoo ting with a pooja ceremony. Veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan and Coolie Soubin Shahir were also in attendance as the Balan makers began filming.

Balan shoot begins

Balan is an upcoming Malayalam film, which is helmed by Chidambaram, best known for helming Manjummel Boys. The film is also penned by another filmmaker Jithu Madhavan, who made Fahadh Faasil-led Aavesham.

The title of the film was recently announced and the makers have now begun shooting. Chidambaram, Jithu Madhavan, actor Ganapthi and the rest of the cast and crew took part in the pooja ceremony held on Wednesday. Not just the Balan team, Malayalam director Priyadarshan, who is set to return to Bollywood with Hera Pheri 3, and Soubin Shahir, who was recently in the Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie were also present for the ceremony.

In the recently released poster of Balan (which means boy), a little boy with a stick in his hand is seen. Many newcomers are said to be part of the film.

Popular musician Sushin Shyam is also on board for Balan, after collaborating with both directors and delivering hit songs such as Illuminati (Aavesham). Shyju Khalid is the cinematographer.

Both Aavesham and Manjummel Boys, which were among the Malayalam hits of 2024, are available for streaming on JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium. Chidambaram’s Manjummel Boys follows a bunch of friends from a small town in Kochi as they visit Kodaikanal. But after one of them falls into a cave, the other friends do everything possible to rescue him. Soubin Shahir played a key role in Manjummel Boys

On the other hand, Jithu Madhavan’s Aavesham is led by Fahadh Faasil who plays a gangster in the film, who gets acquainted with three college students.
