Anirban Bhattacharya’s directorial debut in features Ballabhpurer Roopkatha has been well appreciated by critics and viewers alike. Based on playwright Badal Sircar’s seminal work, the film features Satyam Bhattacharya, Surangana Bandyopadhyay, Debraj Bhattacharya, Shyamal Chakraborty, and others. Since there were no so-called stars, the film banked on word-of-mouth publicity since its release and that paid off. Ballabhpurer Roopkatha is considered to be one of the major successes in 2022. 

After running in theatres for almost three months, the film is all set to have its OTT release. Ballabhpurer Roopkatha iwill have its digital premiere on Hoichoi on January 13 this year. Meanwhile, Bangladeshi actor Chanchal Chowdhury enjoyed the film and asked everyone to watch it. He was in Kolkata during the promotion of the Hoichoi series Karagar Part 2. 

Talking about the film, Chanchal said, “Anirban is an extremely talented actor and director. He is like a brother to me and I knew I had to see Chhoto Babu’s films in theatres no matter what. What stemmed from a place of affection and faith in Anirban, turned into genuine awe at how well the film is made and how entertaining it is. I'm not exaggerating when I say that everyone should watch it.”

Overwhelmed by this reaction Anirban reacted by saying, “This kind of positive reaction from Chanchal Da means a lot to me. I’ve been in love with his performance ever since I saw him performing on stage and am extremely glad that everyone is becoming accustomed to the acting phenomenon that Chanchal Chowdhury is. Such genuine love and appreciation from him for Ballabhpurer Roopkatha warms my heart and adds a feather to my cap and I’m honestly ecstatic that he loved it.”
