Ballabhpurer Roopkotha’s Rajababu returns to the stage

Satyam Bhattacharya is a diligent student of acting. He has been a theatre worker for 17 years. It is his portrayal of Rajababu in Anirban Bhattacharya’s film Ballabhpurer Roopkotha that won the audience’s hearts. Satyam is a part of the Hypokrites theatre group. The group’s new play, Tobe Tai Hok, is coming on stage soon. 

The entertainment industry was stalled due to the Covid lockdown. Hypocrites also could not stage any new production for the last three years. Now, this new play will be staged around mid-February. The rehearsal is going in full swing. Hypocrites previously produced around thirty plays. 

The play is adapted from a drama written by the Italian playwright Luigi Pirandello. Pratik Dutta has done the adaptation. Susnata Bhattacharya will direct the play. It will star Averi Sinha Roy, Susnata Bhattacharya, Anindya Sai, Saswati Sinha, Moumita Gupta Sharma, Jit Das, Nirnisa Talukdar, and Satyma Bhattacharyya.

The play centres around a family who rents a house in a new place. They are curious about their surroundings. They are confused about how their relationship with their neighbours will be. Satyam's character is named Dibyendu, who reflects the writer's viewpoints. The first show will be on 19 February.
