Balti: Release of Shane Nigam's sports drama pushed; Makers drop a new update

The upcoming bilingual movie Balti's makers have given an update on its theatrical release. The sports drama, which stars Shane Nigam in the lead role, will now debut on big screen in September. It has been confirmed through a new poster shared by the makers on August 11.

The movie's Onam release date had previously been scheduled. According to the makers, the sports drama, which is being promoted as Shane Nigam's 25th movie, would be concurrently released in Malayalam and Tamil in theatres throughout the holiday season. It has now been confirmed, nevertheless, that for unspecified reasons, Balti's release has been postponed until September. No precise date has been disclosed.

A new poster was used to announce Balti's latest release update. A teaser video featuring Shanthnu Bhagyaraj's character, Kumar, who plays kabbadi, has also been released by the producers. The Tamil actor had made his Malayalam debut with Mohanlal-starrer Angel John, which is streaming on JioHotstar and OTTplay Premium.

Given that several other highly anticipated films, like Mohanlal's Hridayapoorvam and Fahadh Faasil's Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, were released on August 28 and 29, it is logical to assume that the film's release has been postponed. Lokah Chapter One: Chandra and Maine Pyar Kiya will also debut during the same time.

Shane Nigam plays a kabbadi player in Balti

In the first teaser for the movie, Shane Nigam's character Udhayan was shown escaping from several police officers while wearing the outfit of a kabbadi player. This film was directed by Unni Shivalingam. The director wrote the script for this action drama himself. Santosh T Kuruvilla and Binu Alexander George, working together from STK Frames and Binu George Alexander Productions, are the producers of Balti. It was recently announced that the project's soundtrack would be composed by Tamil musician Sai Abhyankkar. Alphonse Puthren is playing another significant role in Balti.
