Bandra teaser: Dileep turns into an action hero, will it work?

The teaser of the upcoming Malayalam movie, Bandra, has been released, featuring Dileep as the lead actor. Directed by Arun Gopy and written by Udayakrishna, known for his entertaining masala movies, Bandra seems to follow a typical hero-worshipping movie format.

The plot of the movie appears to span different timelines tracing the life of a larger-than-life gangster, Alan Alexander Dominic, portrayed by Dileep. While the teaser doesn't reveal much about the story, it suggests that the movie revolves around a tough guy who once ruled the streets of Bandra, leaving the audience wondering whether he's a good or evil gangster, or if there are more shades of his character.

The teaser showcases Dileep's attempt to redefine his on-screen image, as he transitions from comedy hero to an action hero. He began his journey in movies in comedy roles and he rose to stardom by playing the funny guy. Although he has performed fight sequences in the past, they were perfunctory and didn't showcase him as an action hero. With Bandra, the visual style seems to be in line with current hero-worshipping movies. 

Whether Bandra will help Dileep establish himself as an action hero remains to be seen. Bandra is Arun Gopy's second collaboration with Dileep after the 2017 political thriller, Ramaleela, which was a hit at the box office. Late filmmaker Sachy's screenplay was one of the reasons for the commerical success of Ramaleela.

Besides Dileep, Bandara also features Tamannaah Bhatia, Dino Morea, Lena, Rajveer Ankur Singh, Dara Singh Khurana, and Amit Tiwari.
