A few days ago, during the promotions of his last release Soothravakyam, Shine Tom Chacko had revealed that his next project would be a VK Prakash directorial that he begins shooting for on July 21. The project was under wraps at the time and has now been revealed to be Bangalore High, a film produced by CJ Roy of the Confident Group.

Shine is joined by the likes of Siju Wilson, Anoop Menon, Iswarya Menon, Baburaj, Riya Mary Roy, Shani Srivastava, Prashant Alexander, Biju Sopanam, Manoj Guiness, Rinosh George, Vineeth Thattil, among others. Bangalore High, according to the makers, promises a socially-relevant message about substance abuse and the need to say no to drugs.

VK Prakash associate pens Bangalore High

Based on a story by Ashish Rajani Unnikrishnan, an associate of VK Prakash, Bangalore High has Siju as a cartel network mastermind, Shanvi as an anti-narcotics officer, Ashwini Reddy a central crime branch officer, Baburaj a police inspector, Aswin Jose a drug peddler and Anoop Menon the cartel boss, while Shine is in an undisclosed role that will connect the dark world of drugs and the legal forces.

VK Prakash intends to finish the film in a start-to-finish single schedule across locations in Bengaluru. It does feel gimmicky that the makers have chosen Shine to lead an anti-drugs film, considering that the actor’s been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act a few times, including more recently in April this year? VK Prakash, though, thinks it will send the right message about saying no to drugs.

Following his recent arrest, Shine had been undergoing rehabilitation at a de-addiction centre. While the actor was on the road to recovery, a family journey to Bengaluru ended in tragedy, when the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident, which resulted in the death of Shine’s father. The actor had broken his left arm in the incident.
