Govind Padmasurya is all cheered up as he is receiving a great response for his latest Telugu movie Bangarraju. Making his Telugu debut in 2020 with Allu Arjun starrer Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Malayali’s GP is a busy actor in Tollywood today. In a recent chat with Manorama Online, he opened up about his experiences, working with Telugu’s major actors like Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya.

GP essays the role of a best friend to Naga Chaitanya’s Chinna Bangarraju. While Krithi Shetty plays Lakshmi, GP could be seen resolving fights between Chinna Bangarraju and Lakshmi. The movie, which is currently running successfully in theatres, was released on January 14 on the occasion of Sankranthi.

GP’s debut Telugu film was Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, after which many offers started coming his way. He revealed that he really liked the story of Bangarraju, and he was interested in the film as it was also the sequel to the 2016 superhit Nagarjuna starrer movie, Soggade Chinni Nayana. He also added that a famous Telugu star was cast initially in his role. However, he could not turn up for certain reasons, and the role was then given to GP.

Talking about his experiences shooting for Telugu movies, GP said that he could learn a lot as an actor while working with many big names. “Now, it has come to a point where I can understand Telugu,” he says adding that he used to write his dialogues in English and by heart them. He also made a speech in Telugu during the movie’s pre-release, which was appreciated by the veteran actor Rao Ramesh.

He is also happy that Telugu audiences have started recognising him now. He shared an incident about the audience calling him by his character name when he went to Andhra Pradesh. He also added that he is waiting for good roles in Malayalam films, as he has always been the happiest in Mollywood.
