After their hugely successful show Krishnakoli, Tiyasha Lepcha, and Neel Bhattacharya are back again on screen. This time their show, Bangla Medium, deals with a hugely debated topic in our education system – English versus Vernacular medium school. Amid the popularity of English medium schools in Kolkata, this serial delves into the life of a simpleton woman being educated in a Bengali medium school and going to teach in a reputed upmarket English medium school. While Tiyasha plays the character of the simpleton woman, Neel plays the character of the owner of the English Medium school.
However, even before the serial went going on air, the protagonist Tiyasha suffered from dengue. In an interview with Anandabazar Online, the actress said, “I just recovered from dengue and am very weak.” The shooting started on October 13. The fever started within a few days, and the tests showed dengue. Tiyasha said, “Thankfully the serial was not yet telecast, hence I got a leave of 13 days. However, I am back to work and feel good. Sampurnadi is my new roommate. Shots with Neel remind me of the days of Krishnokoli.”
Tiyasha played the role of Shyama in Krishnakali for four years. Then she took a break of eight months. But Neel Bhattacharya had no break. After Krishnakali, he signed up for Uma. Now Uma ended and Neel has geared up for a new chapter. It goes without seeing that Krishnokoli gave massive popularity to the lead couple Neel and Tiyasha. It remains to see how the new roles played by the duo captivate the viewers.
