Bangladesh flood: Chanchal Chowdhury trolled after sharing helpline numbers

After the unrest and Sheikh Hasina’s fall, a large area of Bangladesh is submerged in flood. Now there is an interim government that is being led by Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus. The government blames India for that. Padatik actor Chanchal Chowdhury, amidst the situation, called for helping the destitute in the flooded areas. 

Chanchal shared several helpline numbers and also talked about helping personally. But some people did not take his post in good faith. They asked why he did not open his mouth during the unrest. Chanchal wrote on social media on Thursday, “Come, let us stand beside the stranded people.” He posted the list of the addresses of the shelters and advised storing dry food and water in house. He wrote, “Everyone, be aware. The weather is horrible. If the water level is high, please go to the shelter homes. If you can stay in your house, please store dry food, water, saline, and candles. If you can, help your neighbors and the surrounding shelters by giving dry food.’ Such a positive post attracted negative comments. 

Someone wrote ‘You don’t need to stand by our side. We are enough. While we were getting shot, you did not remember us. Now you came to shed crocodile tears.’ Some people simply tagged him as an ‘opportunist’. 

Heavy rain caused a dangerous flood in Feni. River Gomati of Comilla is flowing above the danger level. More than one and a half lakh people in Parshuram, Fulgazi, and Chhagalnaiya are completely stranded. Dams on rivers like Muhuri and Silonia broke up and water slowed through 27 areas, submerging numerous villages. The flood water is rising over time and the rescue operation is going on.
