Recently, the Bangladeshi production house Alpha Eye accused the popular actor Ziaul Faruq Apurba of money embezzlement and breach of contract. The house sent a legal notice to the actor and complained to TELEPAB (Television & Digital Program Producers Association of Bangladesh) and Abhinay Silpi Sangha. But recently, the two sides settled the issue outside court.

The production house said that Apurba signed a contract of Rs 50 lakh Bangladeshi Taka for acting in 24 plays. But he played in only 9 and took a remuneration of 33 lakhs. Then he severed communications with the production house. However, a joint statement by TELEPAB and Abhinay Silpi Sangha on Saturday night said that the misunderstanding happened due to complications in the contract. The accusation regarding Apurba’s money embezzlement is not true. The statement said that neither the producer nor the actor worked according to the contract. “Ziaul Faruq Apurba has worked in nine plays and both sides decided to not make the rest of the plays,” it read. In the reconciliation meeting, Apurba, Alpha Eye chief Shahriar Shaquil, TELEPAB president Manwar Pathan, general secretary Saju Muntasir, Silpi Sangha president Ahsan Habib Nasim, and general secretary Rownak Hasan were present.

Apurba is a popular face on Bangladeshi TV. He has a career spanning two decades. After the news of complaints against him spread, it created a buzz on social media. Several artists and fans supported him. They called for boycotting the production house. It was written in social media ‘Apurba is humble, but not weak. If you or your house thinks that Ziaul Faruq Apurba is weak and will crumble if pushed, then you have seen him only from a business perspective, but not as an artist or a friend.’ It was also written ‘Artists stood united before, and will stand so, against all conspiracies.’

Apurba thanked everyone after the problem was resolved. He said to Bangladeshi media ‘I have been working in this industry for a long time. I worked with a clean image. Everyone has this perception about me. It is not like that I will do something wrong. We have some misunderstandings, but nothing else.
