Directed by Sayantan Mukherjee, the series is expected to release in 2022

Bangldeshi actor Jaya Ahsan, a popular face in Dhallywood and Tollywood, is now ready to mark her debut in the Hindi film industry. She is set to shoot a Hindi web series helmed by Sayantan Mukherjee. The series reportedly revolves around events surrounding the 1967 Naxalbari uprising, an armed movement in the Naxalbari village of Siliguri in Darjeeling district, West Bengal.
The series is based on the book Shada Ami Kalo Ami written by Runu Guha Neogi, a former assistant commissioner at Kolkata Police, and a controversial figure for the harsh tactics he exercised during his service. Director Sayantan Mukherjee told the media that veteran actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui will essay the role of the communist revolutionary Charu Majumdar and Jaya Ahsan will portray the role of his wife, Lila Mazumdar Sengupta.
The makers are considering Paresh Rawal, Boman Irani, Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Saswata Chatterjee to cast in the series. Sayantan has worked with Jaya previously for his upcoming feature debut, Jhara Palak where the actor plays Labonnya Das, the wife of Jibanananda Das.
Meanwhile, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was recently seen in Netflix’s Raat Akeli Hai and Tannishtha Chatterjee’s Roam Rome Mein. He has many projects lined up for release. He is playing the lead role in the upcoming flick Tiku Weds Sheru. He is also working on Sangeen, which is directed by Jaideep Chopra, and a romantic comedy alongside Neha Sharma.
His series alongside Jaya Ahsan is expected to be released in 2022.
