The second track from Ekka, Bangle Bangari, is a peppy romantic number sung by Tagaru-fame Anthony Daasan

Bangle Bangari, the newest song from Yuva Rajkumar’s upcoming film Ekka is here after a two-day delay following the tragedy that unfolded in Bengaluru after the RCB IPL win. The makers had promised a video song, but what’s dropped is a mix of a making of and lyrical video, with momentary glimpses from the actual choreography, including the hook step, featuring leading man Yuva and Sanjana Anand.
The song has been sung by Anthony Daasan, whose claim to fame in Kannada cinema is the title track Tagaru Banthu Tagaru from Tagaru , featuring Century Star Shivarajkumar. For Tagaru, Anthony was apt, given that the song was all about the protagonist and the visuals were about Shivanna’s character going after thugs. In Ekka, though, Anthony is Yuva’s voice in a song in which he’s serenading Sanjana Anand, which, truth be told, seems a strange choice.
The song by Charanraj is, no doubt, peppy and Yuva’s body language while doing the hook step are impressive, but even after hearing it a couple of times, something feels amiss. Anthony, of course, has done complete justice to the song and going by the making of video, has thoroughly enjoyed himself while collaborating with Charanraj yet again.
Ekka, which was meant to be in theatres on June 6 has been postponed to July 18, a week after the new Superman hits theatres and a week ahead of the latest Fantastic Four chapter. It will also clash with politico-entrepreneur Janardhan Reddy’s son Kireeti’s debut, Junior, a trilingual film that brings Sreeleela back to Kannada cinema.
Directed by Rohit Padaki of Dayavittu Gamanisi and Rathnan Prapancha fame, Ekka is the first of two films that Yuva is doing with PRK Productions, KRG Studios and Jayanna Films. His next will be directed by Tagaru and Kaddi Pudi maker Sukka Suri, whose last, incidentally was the dud Bad Manners featuring Abishek Ambareesh.
