Bank of Bhagyalakshmi, the comedy heist thriller led by Dheekshith Shetty, is now streaming. The film, directed by Abhishek Manjunath, had been picked up by Amazon Prime Video and the team had announced that it would begin streaming on January 12. On the day, though, there was no sign of the film and no explanation from the from or the platform; only for Dheekshith to take to social media on January 16 confirming that it has finally made its way to streaming. The film can be accessed on OTTplay Premium with a top-up subscription.
What is Bank of Bhagyalakshmi about?
The film, which released in November, had received fairly positive reviews and featured Dheekshith as Kanaka aka Tiger, the leader of a gang of petty thieves. They decide to lay siege on a cooperative bank in the hope that the loot would be enough to settle each of them comfortably. All goes according to plan until the gang is inside the bank premises and finds an almost empty vault.
By the time they make this discovery, they realize that they’ve been surrounded by cops, putting a spanner in their escape plans. But then, comes the big twist. The bank has a second vault where politicians have been stashing ill-gotten wealth for a while and the loot is now far more than Tiger and co ever imagined. How to get this jackpot out without attracting the attention of the cops or the crowd that had gathered outside? That’s the big dilemma they are then faced by.
